ENVY AND JEALOUSY: THE FALL OF GRACE

Today I read something while searching through homes for sale to test the market. For a particular house, the agent wrote something to the fact that if you want a kitchen that will make everyone envious and jealous, then look no further. This is a common phrase that everyone uses, yet I wonder why. Yes, envy could be a positive reinforcement to better oneself. Jealousy combined with this trait, however, can be destructive to one’s own soul. Combination of envy and jealousy is the fall of grace.

I want a kitchen where everyone feels at home. Where you can place the teapot on the stove and open the refrigerator to make a meal for everyone. I want a home where even the guests feel like they belong, where friends will be motivated through not envy or jealousy. Why would a friend envy or be jealous of your success? A true friend would be motivated and would try to follow your footsteps, not remove you from the path only to go ahead.

Why would you drink or give someone a glass of toxic water when you know it’s toxic?

Jealousy and envy are toxic traits that only wash away all on their way like an unexpected cyclone. Yet this society still lives and breathes through these toxic traits on all levels.

Why would a host allow their guests to be uncomfortable through these toxic traits? Remember the guests who come and go through your house, one of them just might be an angel sent by the Omnipotent Himself. All the angels know these traits have wiped away individuals, families, societies, and even villages after villages. Envy and jealousy have therefore been given one of the highest importance in the forbidden world of sins.

Jealousy removes the fresh breeze and removes the smell of fresh food. It grows like weeds in a bed of flowers, so don’t feed it. Just remove it. Envy wipes away the success of another person. It creates a rift that can never be resolved. Your wish to ruin a person only because you so wish to is a hurtful wild storm. These traits are out-of-control atoms that can never be stopped. They infect the whole society to fall from grace!

“Make your neighbors envious and jealous, when you buy this house.”

This phrase bothered me as I am trying to see houses for myself. I search everywhere for the perfect house I could buy for my family. Yet as I searched from California through Tennessee to New York, through all different states, all have this one phrase, this house would make all your family and friends envious and jealous. This simple phrase left me walking out of the house. It disturbed my innermost soul. I wondered why has our society come to a place where we pride ourselves with putting others down? Why not welcome all within the temple of your soul where no one is left out nor is anyone welcome who brings divisions through their words or actions. It’s simple. Don’t welcome a criminal, but don’t close the door on the pious.

You the envious could look at a house you could not buy yet your friend did as a motivation to walk on the same path. Follow his advice and example. Walk behind him. Don’t run him out of the path.

Positive thoughts even as phrases can unite all through messages, like a simple quote, a prayer, or a song.

Yet then why do we send out phrases that create confusion and division amongst ourselves? Throughout time, it was said, ego, anger, and jealousy can ruin not only a human but a society. So why is it we let ourselves walk into these situations? Why do we build the foundation of a home with envy, lust, pride, greed, gluttony, and wrath that would make people feel uncomfortable? Why do we build a home where freshly baked cookies are not displayed on the kitchen counter, left out to be eaten?

These cookies might not be perfect circles or they may be a little burnt or broken. I personally love to try the broken pieces as I can share the cookie with my family members and friends. We talk about how one of my family members always manages to burn them while another one underbakes them. Yet then we laugh and work together to make perfect cookies.

I had a dream where I saw I walked into a house. I saw there inside the house people were laughing. Sweet and tender songs were playing in the background. I saw there were plates left on the counter which were not washed. Shoes were left by the door, not in the shoe closet. The house had its doors and windows open where the fresh breeze was pouring in. The house felt like a home where life was being lived and enjoyed, not a showcase but a home. Yes I did write about this particular home in my dream diary, Spiritual Lighthouse: The Dream Diaries of Ann Marie Ruby.

It’s not the house or the layout I am looking for.

I realized it’s the welcoming feeling of just belonging. That is what I recognized. The sense of belonging and welcoming is what my soul seeks. Not a castle, a house, or a cottage. It’s where everyone feels belonged.

Today though, our society has for reasons of safety and security distanced ourselves from these feelings. I have stayed in places where from the move-in day to the day I moved out, I barely got to know my neighbors. The simple hello or have a nice day is missing from the lips of humans. In the lobbies of apartment buildings, in the elevators, or even in the streets, people are all on their phones. It’s either a sign of stay away, you are not welcome, or I am scared of you. It’s not anyone’s fault but what we the public have done to make this happen. If these traits get into a family, into a group of friends, it’s then the society slowly starts to get into a rift.

Through this article, I want you, the reader, to do one thing.

Just say hello to your neighbor whom you have known, but never acknowledged as a person who exists. Say hello to the person who greets you at the bank and the grocery store clerk who asks how was your day. Maybe say hello to your own family member, who has been waiting for you to come home or give them a call. I ask you to only say the phrase if you can say it from your inner soul, not just from your lips.

Envy inflicted through jealousy is not just a forbidden sin but ruins relationships. It breaks the bond of trust and friendship. These feelings cause trauma to the inner soul as they break a person, which eventually becomes a curse for the society. An envious and jealous person slowly becomes an insecure person who converts their own mind to think everything else is wrong and they are the victim not the victimizers.

Let’s breathe in positivities and breathe out all the negativities around us. Close your eyes and believe all that was wrong is going to disappear soon as only good times are ahead. Yet do remember you have to walk to that place in the future letting go of the past. Try not to carry it with you to the future.

How do I let go of the hurt, the pain, and the feelings of being betrayed?

Forgiveness is a blessing I found within my innermost self. Forgiveness is not forgetting. Forgiving everyone lets me be grateful for the path that’s ahead of me, and allows me to learn from the past. It’s not intertwined with the path of forgetting. I forgive with the message I will not forget the lessons of the past. Forgiveness is not forgetting but just letting go. For then, I am able to sleep in peace and wake up within harmony. For it’s how I am able to let the tears fall freely, then laugh, and feel happy. I appreciate the tears that I put out which help wash away my pain and grief. Being low and feeling lonely and lost is all right only if you can laugh and not let the pain and hurt convert you into a jealous person. I just let go and forgive but I don’t forget.

I walk ahead knowing that I walk on the path of forgiveness, on the path where leaned lessons of life don’t get lost. Where sharing your dreams, your pain, and suffering won’t make it on the list of another person’s rage and jealousy. Where your success or failure won’t be judged by the wagon of jealousy or hurt. For how could a person of good moral values judge another person with rage, jealousy, and envy?

So I wrote, “Let us the judged not be the Judge.”

I have learned through my own life, it is better to always rise with grace and walk with forgiveness and blessings. Don’t call yourself the wronged when the wrong is written and printed by your actions. Only when we the humans can rise from above the ground of hurt and pain with grace and forgiveness, is when the path of healing and peace will appear.

Also a lesson learned is don’t share your dreams and thoughts with the wrong person as they don’t have the grace of understanding. Where there is jealousy, envy, anger, and the question of why not me, there can never be understanding. There can never be forgiveness. There can never be unity. For this reason, I let go of the past and move on with the present as I build a better and brighter future. I believe in learning from mistakes, not living within them to create a jealous world. I believe in building a world where everyone is happy for one another. Where phrases like, “Blessed to have you” are said and felt.

How could I spread my healthy words of wisdom and grace, I wondered.

That’s when I created my own world of books where my characters learn from the past and live in the present to build a better future for themselves and the world. In my paranormal Gothic world of books, there is always a lesson, and always laughter and tears. There are always found families. For who says, you the lonely traveler of life don’t have a family? Just walk into the world of my books. Your found families are waiting for you with open arms. You can enter this world whenever you’re ready, when you feel lonely, or if you need a break from this world. This world is there for you. Never shall the inhabitants of this world judge you, or be jealous or envious. They will always be there to inspire you as they are proud and happy for you.

In this world, if you the traveler are fighting for your life as you see no hope, don’t be hopeless for who says all ends at the door of death? It does not as a character in The Bride, The Groom, And The Ghost found out. God said, “Never fear, for I am here.”

So, breathe and even though it is hard to believe, know the Omnipotent is there for all, the believers and nonbelievers, as all are His creation, you and me and all the others who believe and don’t!

My message to all is in this one world we have, we have one way in and one way out. The life we chose and at times don’t choose but is placed upon us, is our one journey. Through this path, we encounter sadness, happiness, loss, and gain. We encounter rage, anger, resentment, and fear. Yet through it all, remember the path is a one-way road. So, let’s try to walk through this path with courage, dignity, and honor. Discard all the bitterness, anger, and grief for all of these negativities are seeds growing out of envy and jealousy.

As I walked into my new apartment, I asked myself what plants should I grow here as I don’t know how long I will be staying here. Job relocation has pulled my family from one place to another. Yet we never feel lost or confused as I know we have the glad tidings of my Lord with us. I walk into all my homes with grace and forgiveness. I never allow jealousy to grow within my soul as then I would feel like no showers on this world could cleanse me. I open the windows of my apartment and allow the fresh breeze and sounds of the Hudson River waves to enter as it brings me hope and blessings.

I repeat to myself all is good, for the Omnipotent loves us all as He said to avoid the grave sins and if we do encounter them, then to ask, seek, and knock on His door of forgiveness as it’s always open for all the travelers of life.

I travel with forgiveness in my inner soul as who am I to judge when I am the judged.

I will find my house when my house finds me. Until then, I intend to enjoy my apartment as I have opened all the windows to let the fresh river breeze in. My hope and prayers for all today, tomorrow, and forever, is if we can discard any of the forbidden sins, let’s discard envy inflicted from jealousy. So everyone, repeat in your mind, envy inflicted from jealousy is the fall of grace!

Sending my love and blessings from New York,
